I’m Karla, an intern therapist passionate about helping individuals, couples, and groups navigate anxiety, addictions, trauma, relationship differences, phobias, decision-making, life changes, and the emotional toll of legal or systemic stress. My practice is grounded in evidence-based approaches and informed by clinical training and my background in neuroscience and human anatomy. I also bring years of experience working in the Ontario court system, where I witnessed the gaps firsthand.

  • My path to psychotherapy was shaped by my deep empathy for others and a strong desire to offer meaningful support. I’ve worked in emotionally charged, high-pressure environments where I regularly supported those in distress, often caught in cycles of trauma, systemic harm, and inadequate support. I knew I wanted to be there to help beyond just moments of crisis; I wanted to walk alongside folks on their healing journey. That commitment is what led me to this work.

In my personal life, I love spending time with my husband, our two dogs, and our pet snake. You’ll find me outside gardening, hiking trails, and swimming when the weather allows. Indoors, I’m cooking and hosting meals, and working through my to-be-read pile of books. I cherish the time I spend in community as a volunteer, showing up and contributing in ways that reflect care, respect, and responsibility. Alongside this, I seek out moments of stillness from the pace of modern life that bring calm and quiet.

  • My therapy practice is structured but always warm, open, and relational. We can work together to find a structure and approach that will work best for you. I integrate evidence-based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy approaches.

My work is informed by my passion for neuroscience and human anatomy, enabling us to gain a deeper understanding of how your past experiences have shaped your life as we work together to build new patterns rooted in safety and resilience. Sessions are always tailored to your needs, goals, and pace.
