Child and Youth Counsellor

Accepting New Clients

Looking for support for you or your child’s emotions, behaviour, anxiety, or family stress? You’re in the right place.

  • There is enormous pressure that today’s modern life can put on children, adolescents, parents and adults. These pressures can often show up in children, young people and adults as anxiety, low mood, emotional dysregulation, behavioural difficulties, low self-esteem, and conflict at home.

We can work together to explore and better understand you or your child’s needs and emotional experiences that shape their behaviour. Together, we can create an empathic and non-judgemental environment to help create change. I provide a safe, open space for people to express themselves and together we can identify ways to create meaningful change.

My approach is a relationship-based approach and involves getting to know the client first. I believe relationship-based practice can build a sense of safety and trust and can contribute to significant change over time. My approach is strength-based, warm, and relational and draws on theories such as attachment theory and family system theories.

I have experience supporting children, young people and adults with:

    • Anxiety and stress

    • Emotional regulation and anger

    • Low self-esteem and confidence

    • Behavioural challenges

    • School-related difficulties and school avoidance

    • Family conflict and communication difficulties

    • Identity and self-development

    • Life transitions and adjustment challenges

    • Neurodiversity and additional needs

    • Attachment and relationship difficulties

I believe therapy should feel approachable and tailored to the individual. Together, we will explore emotions, identify patterns, build coping strategies, and strengthen relationships to support long-term emotional wellbeing.

  • I am originally from London, in the United Kingdom, where I worked in autism services, then in social work for 6 years. In these roles, I supported young people with mild to severe learning disabilities and helping them transition to adulthood, as well as in disability services and special education.

Most recently I worked as a child and family in need social worker, supporting families with a variety of concerns and difficulties ranging from school avoidance, emotional dysregulation, and family conflict.

This career has made me passionate about building working relationships with children, young people, adults and parents to create long term, meaningful change through relationship-based practice.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, travelling, staying active through sports such as rugby, and spending time with friends and family.

  • I take an integrative and collaborative approach to therapy, drawing from a range of evidence-based and developmentally appropriate approaches to best meet the needs of each client. Depending on the individual, this may include elements of CBT, attachment-based approaches, emotion-focused work, strengths-based practice, and relational therapy.

When working with children and adolescents, I recognise the importance of involving caregivers and families where appropriate. I often support parents in strengthening communication, understanding emotional needs, creating healthy boundaries, and building supportive routines at home.

My approach is flexible, compassionate, and tailored to each young person’s stage of development, personality, and goals. Therapy may include conversation-based work, emotional regulation strategies, creative interventions such as through artwork and worksheets, and sharing practical coping tools.

I offer in-person therapy services in Guelph, as well as virtual sessions.

Above all, I aim to provide a space where children, adolescents, and families feel supported, understood, and empowered to create positive and lasting change.
